Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Fire Alarm and Access Control Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair fire alarm and access control systems. The ideal candidate will have experience working with low-voltage electrical systems and a strong understanding of fire alarm codes, security systems, and access control technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, program, test, and maintain fire alarm systems, access control systems, and security systems according to manufacturer and industry standards.
- Troubleshoot and repair system malfunctions, wiring issues, and component failures.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on installed systems to ensure proper functionality.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and wiring schematics to guide installations.
- Ensure compliance with NFPA codes, local building regulations, and safety standards.
- Perform system upgrades and modifications based on customer needs and technological advancements.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, and team members to ensure successful project completion.
- Maintain accurate service records, documentation, and reports for all work performed.
- Provide training and support to customers on system operation and troubleshooting.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new products, and best practices in fire alarm and security technology.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in fire alarm and access control systems installation and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of fire alarm panels, security systems, electronic access control, CCTV, and low-voltage wiring.
- Familiarity with NFPA codes, NEC, and local fire regulations.
- Certifications such as NICET (Fire Alarm Systems), ESA, OSHA 10/30, or manufacturer-specific certifications PLT are a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical and network-based security systems.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in various environments.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
